That 47-foot sculpture of a horsehoe crab that was supposed to be sunk last week as part of the NJ artificial reef program? Didn't happen. The drop was postponed and will be sunk at a future date according to Fish & Wildlife.

Archers are advised to start their backyard target practicing. Bowhunting opens in nearly 30 zones on Sept. 8.

Wednesday, Aug. 1 is the beginning of the application process for the fall turkey season and  tomorrow, July 30, is the first day non-residents can mail in their Pennsylvania antlerless permit applications.

Registration is now open for the Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament Oct. 7 at Island Beach State Park.
Early registrants save $5 on the entry fee which is $15 for adults, 18 and up. It's $20 the day of the tourney.
Anglers 13-17 pay $5 and registration is free for ages 12 and under.
